Sarah Binks
As an orofacial myofunctional therapist and registered dental hygienist, I am dedicated to enhancing my clients' well-being through personalized care and a comprehensive understanding of airway and oral health. I bring personal experience, patience, and empathy to my practice, ensuring that each client feels heard and supported. I live in beautiful San Clemente, California, and see clients both virtually and in person. On the weekends, I enjoy recharging with yoga, traveling, and spending time on the ski slopes.
My Airway journey
My story begins when my son was born in 2012 and suffered from obstructive sleep apnea as a toddler. We were told over and over again that nothing was wrong or that he would grow out of it - for over a decade. During this time a colleague introduced me to myofunctional therapy and it was only then that everything clicked. I was able to get my son to the providers he desperately needed, and since that time his health has improved dramatically. Due to this personal experience, I am passionate about helping others navigate their own journey in the often overwhelming airway health space.
Professional Advancement
I attended college in Lake Tahoe, earning both a degree in natural science and a certificate in dental assisting. While working as a dental assistant, I was encouraged by my employer to return to school for dental hygiene. I then attended Cerritos College in southern California, graduating with honors from their dental hygiene program in 2019.
Working full time as a registered dental hygienist, I began to notice many of the same functional issues in a great deal of my patients' mouths. This awareness led me to explore the emerging fields of airway health and myofunctional therapy. I strongly believe that proactive intervention can help prevent and even resolve many oral health-related conditions. Over the past 6 years, I have taken multiple airway and myofunctional therapy classes, culminating in a professional training course by Airway Circle. I continue to advance my knowledge daily with literature on airway health, research, podcasts, continuing education courses, and study clubs.
